The Gold Coast is always packed full of interesting events, and the coming months are no different. From the regular local markets and fairs, whale watching adventures or the test of physical endurance that is the Peaks Challenge – there is something for everyone!

Plus being on the Gold Coast as spring hits is always beautiful. The beaches are stunning and the water is usually warm enough for a swim; or you can check out the theme parks, go shopping or wine and dine to your hearts content.

If you’re visiting the Gold Coast these coming school holidays, make sure you visit The Broadwater Fair. Located on the iconic Broadwater (obviously!) – this is an event for families of all ages. Featuring carnival rides, fairy floss, market stalls and a wide selection of games, this is going to be a fun event!

The Broadwater parklands are the perfect place to take the kids on your average day out, with jumping pillows, playgrounds, bikes, trails, and an enclosed swimming area. The addition of the fair makes this a must visit item on your next trip to the GC. The fair will from the 24th of June to the 9th of July, so there is plenty of time to check it out!

Make sure you visit the Gold Coast Council website for specific times and dates here: www.goldcoast.qld.gov.au/thegoldcoast/broadwater-parklands-events-29755.html.

For a more relaxed vibe, and to take in some of the local atmosphere, you can’t go past the local markets.

The China Town markets are held on the first Saturday of each month, so if you are on the Gold Coast at that time, it’s definitely worth visiting.

From the much loved street markets to free film showings, pop up bars, and street food, this market is celebration of multiculturalism and the Gold Coast’s diverse population. Located in the heart of Southport, it’s easy to get there – just ride the G (the local tram system).

You can also check out the Surfers Paradise Night Markets each Wednesday, Friday and Sunday night 4pm – 9pm or  the Marina Mirage Markets, open every Saturday from 7am. This gourmet farmers market showcases the highest quality fruits and vegetables, as well as home made artesian delicacies.  You can find everything from home made desserts, infused oils, cheeses and dips to flowers, freshly baked bread and pastries and authentic international cuisines and condiments. There is even a selection of locally caught seafood!

The Gold Coast is lucky enough to have one of the longest whale watching seasons in all of Australia. Most of these tours leave from Marina’s Cove, which is just minutes from the Neptune Resort! If you haven’t seen the migration of humpback whales yet, it’s definitely something to add to the bucket list. They will continue their migration up north, and start heading home all the way until late November.

Not only can you get up close and personal with these spectacular creatures, but you may also catch a glimpse of a range of wildlife including dolphins, turtles or even a shark.  It’s truly spectacular to watch these majestic mammals wave, breach in front of you or swim under the boat to check you out. It is something everyone should experience in their lifetime.

If you’re after more of an adventure on your next trip, Peaks Challenge Gold Coast is for you – although not for the faint hearted.  A 235km bike ride with over 4,000 metres of climbing and all with a 12 hour deadline – this is the challenge!

It takes place through the beautiful hinterland with the riders climbing Mt Tamborine, Beechmont, Springbrook, Natural Bridge and Tomewin Mountains. Those completing the ride within the 12-hour deadline will receive one of the coveted finishers jerseys. Challenge yourself and take part in this incredible feat or simply spectate and watch the finishers as they come through.

Don’t forget Pacific Fair Shopping Centre, Harbour Town Shopping Centre, Australia’s best theme parks and many more great events and attractions are located just a short stroll, or a speedy roadtrip, from Neptune Resort.
